Sell 3D assets to AI companies: 4 buyers, what they pay, on what terms
The list holds four data buyers for 3D assets. None publishes a price per model. CGTrader says "designers get marketplace prices, opt-out available". Shutterstock reports "$25M to $50M per big-tech deal" across its whole library, and its contributor share is undisclosed. CGAxis sells an "ML license with indemnity; quote". Wirestock reports $15M paid to creators across all its types.
No editor's pick is set for 3D. CGTrader opens the list as a marketplace for 3D designers that added AI-licensing terms, with an opt-out. Wirestock, an editor's pick for video and images, takes 3D on non-exclusive terms with no minimum and pays a revenue share or a lump sum. Shutterstock pays contributors from a fund and names OpenAI, Meta, Google, Amazon, Apple, Reka and Lightricks as buyers. CGAxis licenses its own catalog and PBR materials; it is the one explicit 3D-for-AI seller found, and it does not buy from owners.
All four license non-exclusively. In the contract, check whether the grant covers training only or also derivative models that output new 3D assets. Clear every texture, material, scan and brand you used. Ask whether the buyer wants source files with topology and materials or exported meshes. Ask for indemnity terms like the ones CGAxis offers its own buyers.

How much do AI companies pay for 3D assets?
No buyer here publishes a per-model rate. CGTrader pays designers at marketplace prices. Shutterstock reports $25M to $50M per big-tech deal across its library, with the contributor share undisclosed. CGAxis quotes its ML license on request.
Can I sell the same 3D assets to two buyers?
All four buyers here license non-exclusively, so the same models can sit with several of them. CGTrader also offers designers an opt-out from AI licensing.
What about copyright and model rights?
Clear every texture, material and brand you used, since a model built on licensed parts may carry their terms. CGAxis sells its ML license with indemnity. Check whether the grant covers training only or also derivative models.
Is there a minimum size?
Wirestock publishes no minimum. CGTrader needs a designer account and Shutterstock a contributor account.
